Arrival/Drop cloths:
When we first get to a job site, besides saying hello to the client we lay drop cloths every where we will be going. If we are painting the whole house we go room by room and lay the drop cloths then so the client can still be in their home.
We use all Sherwin-Williams supplies and it has a low VOC. That means there isn’t much of a smell and it does not stay long.

Moving Furniture:
If the client isn’t able to move their furniture, after we lay drop cloths we help them. We also prefer the client is at least watching, especially if it is something breakable. We move the furniture to the center of the room and put plastic over it incase there is any paint splatter.
If we are painting a closet we ask that the client removes everything before we arrive.
Nails:
Before we begin to paint anything, we check the walls for any nails, anchors, or etc. If the client wants to put a picture or decoration piece back up where it was, they mark it with a post it note or a paper clip. Anything that isn’t mark gets removed and the holes are filled and sanded before we begin to paint. We also check the corners for any other nail pops that we may need to repair. We check every room we are painting before we start so all the sanding will be finished by the time we are painting.
Fill holes:
While we are checking the nail situation we also check for any other holes. They may have been made from furniture, animals, people or anything, we check them all. Pictured below is the wall repair from Sherwin-Williams that we use. We have to pay attention to the texture of the wall, this determines if we sand once it dries or if we add texture while it is still wet.
Caulk:
We check around all of the trim to see if any caulking needs to be completed. This not only makes the house look fancy but it also may stop any potential breezes that may come through. Sherwin-Williams has different kinds of caulk, they can vary in shade as well as consistency, what we use varies from project to project.
Taping:
We tape off any areas that we aren’t painting to make sure they don’t get any potential splatter on them. If we are spraying we tape off a lot more areas for extra protection.

Two coats of Paint:
We always apply two coats of paint on every project we work on. We also only use Sherwin-Williams products. There has to be a 4 hour break in between the two coats to make sure the first coat is dry. We do the second coat before the end of the first day so it can dry over night and we can clean up the next day.
Interior Products:
Below we are going to share the different Sherwin-Williams products that we use on all of our projects.
“Interior” can mean many things, it can be the trim such as window trim, door trim, baseboards or doors. It can also be ceilings, walls, and in some cases, furniture.
When it comes to buying paint for trim or doors, we use the same paint line we use for cabinets. You can read more about it in the cabinet section below!
If the walls have never been painted before they will need to be primed. If they have been painted before they will just need to be wiped down before painting. If you are painting a “more dirty” area, such as a kitchen or bathroom, the walls will need to be cleaned with TSP (Trisodium Phosphate).
